Introduction
The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi is proud to have qualified and dedicated Team of Surgeons, Medical, Nursing and Allied professionals within the Service Line Eye and ENT.
Using state of the art equipment helps to identify, diagnose and treat Eye and ENT related problems.
The department of Ophthalmology offers a variety of surgical treatment procedures like cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery, glaucoma drainage surgery, mid face reconstruction and cosmetic surgery, squint surgery, retinal detachment surgery. Procedures like cochlear implants, reconstructive surgery post trauma or cancer head and neck surgery are unique to ENT.
Based on the these specialised procedures, patients are accommodated in the out-patient as well as the in-patient areas. Eye and ENT believes in innovation, exemplary care and access to services for all.
Responsibilities
You will work with the vision care team to assess and manage the care of eye conditions affecting both children and adults, and deal with patients who have Amblyopia (lazy eye) and Strabismus (squint).
You will work with the patients who have suffered brain injury, diabetes, stroke, low vision, and glaucoma, and support the optometrist aspect of the Ophthalmology clinic. Specific responsibilities include to:
examine eye including visual function testing, refraction and intraocular measurement
take history, do post-assessment counselling and management of Amblyopia
formulate a treatment plan in conjunction with the Ophthalmologists.
work with a variety of patients ranging from babies to the elderly
undertaking general administrative duties related to patient care.
train staff in collaboration with the supervisor
maintain involvement in the research projects, collection of clinical data for audits and establishment of relevant guidelines
keep updated with the current practices and record work activities as part of continuing professional development.
Requirements
You should have:
a Master’s / Bachelor’s degree in Vision Sciences or equivalent from any reputable institution, preferably from an institution offering training as an Optometrist.
at least one year of relevant experience or traineeship completed in Ophthalmology clinic / hospital-based setting, particularly with paediatric patients.
good skills checking visual acuity (age-specific) including color assessment, extra movement, Diplopia assessment (including use of prisms).
good skills in refraction of adult and paediatric patients.
good intercommunication skills, particularly communication skills
ability to effectively work independently as well as in teams.
willingness to work with patients and work on extended hours on need-basis.

The Opportunity :
Reporting to the Lead, Engineer Reliability, you will provide technical/engineering support to plant operations and maintenance to ensure safe and reliable plant operation. You will be responsible for improvement of area rotating equipment unplanned downtime, continuous improvement of rotating equipment reliability, and proactive PM plan.
Key Accountabilities :
Regularly monitor equipment performance and take corrective action when equipment is not going to meet its next PM date.
Fully understanding of equipment health status, identify and assess equipment performance anomaly and take set of proactive actions to fix issues before it become an unplanned failure.
Own rotating equipment issues when happened and work with other disciplines as a single point of accountability to resolve it
Carry out continuous improvement initiatives to resolve systematic issues of rotating equipment.
Develop and maintain a list of forward looking bad actors of rotating equipment and drive for resolution
Interface with all departments to support maintenance functions and activities.
Knowledgeable in equipment troubleshooting and component failure analysis. Experience with crusher, conveyor, pulley and slurry pump will be an added advantage
Knowledgeable in RCA (root cause analysis), FMEA (failure mode effect analysis) and PM strategy
Lead root cause failure analysis to identify true root cause and eliminate future failures
Develop PM (preventative maintenance) plans, maintenance strategies and spares requirement to ensure reliable operation of the plant
Follow company policies and procedures to lead rotating equipment improvement initiates
Comply with all Health and Safety Requirements established by Canadian Natural
Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for the Province of Alberta and environmental standards
Follow safe work procedures and ensure all personnel comply
Other Details :
Job location : Albian Oil Sands, Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Shift schedule : 4x3 – Monday to Thursday, 10-hour shifts
This is a safety sensitive position

Skills & Qualifications :
Engineering Degree is required, preferably mechanical or materials
Registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer in Alberta, APEGA is required.
5 years of experience in an operating facility with rotating equipment preferred
Good working knowledge in CEMA, Slurry transportation, API, ASME and ABSA requirements
Experience with vibration monitoring and lubrication programs
Extensive background in preventative maintenance and spare parts programs
